The Broad Lane Story
Established in 1971, family-run Broad Lane Leisure has been serving the UK caravan market for almost 40 years. This is how it has been achieved:
- 2010 1
- Broad Lane ~ Alcester is voted the Practical Caravan magazine "2010 Dealer of the Year" (Central England). Once again the dedication and quality of service that we strive-for daily, is recognised most importantly and voted for by the caravanning public. We are overwhelmed to have one this magnificent accolade for the sixth year in a row - we MUST be doing something right!

- Broad Lane Daventry is voted "2010 Dealer of the Year" by Which Caravan magazine. An amazing achievement that the whole team worked very hard for.
- 2009 1
- Planning permission finally granted and gratefully received by Broad Lane Daventry. Quotes Dave Brown ~ "At last we will be able to expand the depths of our sales and service facilities".
- 2009
- Sales and service once again re-unite at Alcester with vast improvement to the Service Bays and Aftercare Reception back on the main show ground. Kenilworth invests heavily in a new awning showroom and dedicated motor-home display area - fronting the site along the Old Warwick Road.
- 2008
- Further investment in the Rugby Branch now doubles the Accesory Store; creates dedicated Customer Care facilities and increases the number of service bays to 5, whilst at the same time creating more jobs in Rugby.
- 2007
- Broad Lane Leisure is voted "The Very Best Dealer in the Country" in the CRiS / Practical Caravan magazine Dealer of the Year Awards ~ this is the highest single accolade that may be bestowed on any Dealership.
- 2006
- New Adria motorhomes arrive at Daventry and in their first year they are nominated the No 1 supplier in the country.
- 2005
- 9000sqft /15 bay dedicated Customer Care caravan and motorhome facility developed ¼ mile from the Alcester showrooms, along with secure on site space for a further 150 vehicles.
- 2005
- Nominated the Lloyds/TSB Blackhorse "Caravan Dealer of the Year" in recognition of professionalism and commitment to customer service.
- 2003
- Massive overhaul and re-investment in Rugby ~ bigger and better displays, increased sales offices, accessory and service centre.
- 2002
- Purchase and development of new 6-bay 'remote' body shop and service facility to satisfy increasing demand at Alcester branch.
- 2001
- Construction of new accessory showroom, sales offices, workshop and dedicated Customer Care facilities at Daventry take place.
- 2000
- The cherished "Gold Award" received from the Swift Group for 'Outstanding Business Performance'.
- 1998
- Trading name changed from "Caravans" to "Leisure" to reflect increasingly diverse product range, including motor homes, awnings, accessories and camping equipment.
- 1994
- Broad Lane commission Britain’s leading manufacturer to produce Special Edition caravans for the first ever time.
- 1993
- Further three-acre site purchased adjacent to Daventry facility, allowing its capacity to increase by a further 150 caravans.
- 1991
- Second generation Brown family become Partners in business, now known as the Broad Lane Group.
- 1991
- Broad Lane’s flagship branch at Alcester opens on the 23rd March satisfying a massive surge in demand from an entirely new area ~ Worcestershire and Birmingham south.
- 1990
- Kenilworth branch completely redeveloped ~ new sales, shop and dedicated customer care facilities.
- 1990
- Freehold two-acre site identified and purchased at Alcester, undergoing major building work in order to provide indoor showroom facilities and a superstore accessory shop.
- 1985
- Howard Wintle achieves "Engineer of the Year Award" from CITO ~ the Caravan Industry’s Training Organisation and the National Caravan Council.
- 1984
- Darren Brown joins the business at Rugby.
- 1983
- Steve Brown enters the business at Kenilworth, while David Brown joins at Daventry.
- 1976
- Company acquires Broad Lane Caravans and freehold of its 6-acre site at Leek Wootton, near Kenilworth in Warwickshire.
- 1972
- Company enters the caravan market.
- 1971
- Brothers Jack and Colin Brown establish "Go Camping" on the A5, Watford Gap, near Daventry in Northamptonshire as a camping retail outlet.
